Akashaditya Lama bestowed prestigious award

Writer, director, playwright given rare honour

Film and television personality writer and director Akashaditya Lama whose film with Ameesha Patel titled Tauba Tera Jalwa will release this year was awarded for his work in theatre and the performing arts for his work last week at the 28th annual edition of Etawah Hindi Seva Nidhi established in memory of Justice Late Prem Shankar Gupta, was held last week at Prayagraj.

Akashaditya received the award from Kesari Nath Tripathi and Sudhir Aggarwal, Judge of Allahabad High Court, who pronounced the judgment of Ram Mandir.

Lama also worked with Sanjay Puran Singh Chauhan with the script of the National award winning film Lahore.

Lama who has been writing TV shows like Kumkum, Pyar Ke Do Naam Ek Radha Ek Shyam, Lake Mill Stars Aangan Ho, plays like Mohenjodaro and the first writer-director to make a film in the Naga language called Nani Teri Morni. Other awardees include Justice Prem Shankar Gupta National Janvani Samman which was bestowed to poet Dr. Lakshmishankar Vajpayee and Bekal Neeraj Geet Ghazal Samman to famous poetess Dr. Kirti Kale and Gangdev Samman lyricist Yash Malviya. The ceremony held at North Central Cultural Center was presided over by former West Bengal Governor Keshari Nath Tripathi.

Lama has earlier made films like Cigarette Ki Tarah.
