Lucky lockdown for Sriram

Updated: May 25, 2020

Andhadhun director Sriram Raghavan is directing the Varun Dhawan starrer Ekkees which is the biopic of Arun Khetarpal who was posthumously honoured with Param Vir Chakra. Sriram has been watching a lot of war films apart from usual ones like Saving Private Ryan to French war movies like Weekend At Dunkirk so that he can better his script as well as the research for the film on the late 21-year-old armyman. “The lockdown has been more like a blessing for Sriram who is a very spontaneous director. If you look at his bound script, there it is a rather small one with loads of treatment and very few dialogues in it. With increasing time in his hands – Sriram is a filmmaker who keeps improvising his scripts all the while. For example, Johnny Gaddaar was also just a 17-page-draft from where he made the dialogues for the actors who needed them. A majority of the work happens on the sets as he improvises shot after shot. Now he is watching these offbeat war films to get a grip on how he wants the treatment for his upcoming movie starring Varun Dhawan in the lead role,” says a source.
