Masks are a superhit in Bollywood

Earlier only superheroes wore masks in Bollywood. But now everyone who is a hero in their family wears one to make sure that they do not get infected by the coronavirus. Akshay Kumar was also seen shooting for the first time in a mask when he was making a short film for the government of India with R Balki. He even urged everyone to go out wearing a mask. Abhishek Bachchan who has been dubbing daily for his web series – Breathe Into The Shadows has been wearing his mask properly and then going about his routine with consummate ease.

The makers of the film Satyamev Jayate 2 – Nikkhil and Monisha Advani starring John Abraham and Divya Khosla Kumar have the poster of the film which is going to be shot in August. So they decided to make one to suit the mask size and released it on social media. Once the shooting begins everyone on the set will be wearing the mask. So, when the shooting begins everyone will be wearing such masks which will serve a dual purpose. Not only will the mask provide them safety, but will also double up as a promotional tool. “Paparazzi media is there everywhere today. They try and cover shootings as well. So, when the actors are coming in and out of the shoot and when they are shooting, every paparazzo worth his salt will try and get a close up of the actor on the set. That would effectively mean that the picture of the mask will also be seen in the media and that is a great idea.

Varun Dhawan and his team of Coolie No 1 also thought of an idea to promote. However they were the earliest of the lot and did not put the logo on the mask, but below it when they released the poster.

Not long ago, Bollywood’s thespian Amitabh Bachchan too decided to sport a mask carrying the poster of his digital release Gulabo Sitabo with Ayushmann Khurrana and posted pictures of it on his daily blog and as part of his entertainment routine he also coined a Hindi name for the mask which was nothing less than a tongue twister.

Interestingly, just as the coronavirus had hit India and Mumbai, Anil Kapoor was seen wearing a mask at the success party of the film Malang. Kapoor interestingly was not promoting the film but used a matching mask which said ‘Mask”!
