Sushant Singh Rajput dies by suicide
Updated: Jun 15, 2020
““Tumhara result decide nahi karta hai ki tum loser ho ki nahi, tumhari koshish decide karti hai,” was the line from Chhichhore that was used by Sushant Singh Rajput tells his son who tries to die by suicide. It is rather ironic that the same actor who drove home the point that one should not do a suicide after failing in life himself killed himself on Sunday. He was 34.
Sushant was with friends since Saturday night and who were staying with him. According to friends, he was going through a bit of depression for the past six months and was also undergoing some treatment for the same. Preliminary investigations initially with his friends reveals that the actor who played the role of MS Dhoni in his biopic, was with friends at his Mont Blanc apartments at Bandra and seemed fine the previous night. In the morning, when his friends knocked at his door, he didn't open it. So, they broke open the door with the help of the househelp and realised that he had hung himself. Cops are still recording statements of his friends who were staying with him the previous night.
Incidentally his former manager Disha Salian had fallen off her building six days ago and police have initially ruled out foulplay. As obvious the police, is also trying to see if there could be a link between the two cases, but the film industry feels it would be insensitive to link the two at this juncture.
“He was staying with his sister Ruby for a few days and she was the one who called and informed his family in Patna. He was going through a bit of depression for a few months. But then he was doing well in films. He had everything going for him. He had done the Dhoni biopic, he had Kedarnath and he had Chhichore. Drive went in digital and one more film will also go, but there is nothing wrong with his professional front. All of us have the same question, why?” says Sushant’s friend Ravi Prakash.
Sushant had also one more film to do with director Rumi Jaffery for producer Vashu Bhagnani and was in talks with Sanjay Puran Singh Chauhan to do his next project.
Sources however say that Sushant has been gong though a lot of depression for six months and was undergoing treatment. “But because of the lockdown he could not interact much with his shrink and his medicines also could not be monitored. Sushant was been quite low for a few months. The lockdown also did not help and the hopelessness and the negativity because of the lockdown also contributed a lot more in the past three months,” says an industry source.
A few days ago, Sushant posted a note in Instagram with a picture where he remembered his mother. “Blurred past evaporating from teardrops, Unending dreams carving an arc of smile, And a fleeting life, negotiating between the two... #माँ,”. He had not posted anything on his social media. Police sources say that since there seems to be no suicide note, they may have to check his phone among other gadgets to see if they get any clue of why he committed suicide. “Since it is a high-profile case, the cops have taken all his medicines and other medical papers so that they can investigate,” says sources who were present at his house on Sunday evening.
Sushant Singh is survived by his father KK Singh and three sisters. His father stays in Patna and Sushant had visited home last year on May 11 and even done a puja in a local temple. His mother died in 2002 and a sister also died earlier. His other elder sister Mitu Singh was a state level cricketer.
